 | 32 of the worlds best sailors participated at the first wave event of the PWA World Tour. The epic conditions on the island of Sal in Cabo Verde were tough and some big names went down. Ross Williams had one of the biggest comebacks of the event, taking out some of the sports top stars like Polokow, Baker, Siver, Swift, just to name a few. The crazy Frenchman Thomas Traversa was battling hard and taking chances going for huge areals with great style. | | | "I was really happy with my come back. I was nervous in the morning looking at who I had to compete against and then the heats just started rolling off. Getting through heats with Levi Siver and Jason Polokow just made my day. My Da Curve 85 Twin Fin and my 5.3 Manic was the magic set up for the day. The gear was trimmed to perfection and I just kept advancing into 6th place. I was stoked!" said Ross Williams. | | | "Man that was one of the heaviest wipeouts I have ever had! I cant believe my gear survived," said Thomas after a 30 foot off the lip went bad. "I went into the air and the wind swirled around and pushed my sail down and I went straight into the water from about 25 feet up! I was pretty scary! My Gaastra Tabou combo was working great in these Ponta Preta conditions. I love it down here!" |
